Beespeaker Meet Beespeaker
May 26, 2007

We had a wonderful sunny day at the downtown farmer's market in Edmonton. I was quite tired due to noisy humans in the hotel last night, but managed to sustain enough energy to keep the communication flowing. I talked to a senior beekeeper who's been an apiarist for over forty years. He thinks the cell phone theory with regards to HCD is a load of bunk. (!) I talked to lots of curious kids and bemused adults, and a wonderful beekeeper named Patti of Lola Canola Honey gave me the gift of a hefty chunk of honeycomb. Thanks Patti!I loved the market, and was really happy to find someone selling lefsa, which I haven't had since I went to the L. C. B. I in my Norwegian Lutheran high school days. I also met a fellow beespeaker-another woman who talks to the bees! What a day! I still have many thoughts to process about today and my stint at the Leg. Yesterday, but I will have to wait until I get time back home in Vancouver tomorrow to write things down. Meanwhile, I would like to express a warm thank you for everyone at Latitude 53 Gallery for making these performances possible and for organizing a brilliant festival. I also want to thank the other performers and everyone I talked to for the gift of sweet conversations, laughter, and rich food for thought.
